“And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof WAS DRIED UP (capitals mine), that the way of the east might be prepared.”
Revelation 16:12
One of the less discussed prophecies of the last days of the 7-year Tribulation period leading up to Armageddon is the drying up of the Euphrates River. We do know that Jesus Christ returns at Armageddon to defeat the armies of the world and to throw the anti-christ and False Prophet into hell for eternity and Satan into the bottomless pit for His 1,000-year earthly Millennial reign. Of course, before He returns to fulfill all prophecy the world would have endured the worst time in the history of the world.
“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”
Matthew 24:21
Here we have directly from Jesus Christ on the Mount of Olives answering His disciples’ questions about what to expect in the “last days”. He clearly lays out the unleashed Wrath of God will punish this sinful world with wars, famines, pestilences, persecution, and earthquakes in diverse places (Matthew 24:7). Later, as quoted above in Revelation 16:12, He also tells all of us the River Euphrates will dry up enabling the armies of the east to march towards Israel.
Why does this matter?
“And the number of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand (200 million): and I heard the number of them (John did not count them. Jesus told him the number of men in the army). And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.”
Revelation 9:16-18
In other words, an army of 200 million men will move from the east (China?) towards Israel. In order to get there, they will have to cross over the Euphrates River. The Euphrates is a large river, and it would take many resources to cross 200 million soldiers over it UNLESS it had dried up. Guess what?
In 2021 the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources said the Euphrates River could dry up by 2040. This has never happened in history even though Turkey and Syria have both substantially drained the river for their agricultural reasons. When the river has dried up there will be a clear passage for the armies from the east to cross it and make their way to Armageddon. I am not saying the river will dry up by in 2040 ENABLING 200 million soldiers to make their way to Israel. I am saying we don’t know the timing, but we do know it will happen! Maybe even quicker! The Bible told us! That means each and every one of us must not only be ready at any time for this prophecy to be fulfilled, but also to make sure we tell our friends and family what is going to happen. You can do this by doing what Jesus Himself told us to do and that is to “…therefore comfort one another with these words.” Why could this be so imminent and important to us who may be here to see God’s Wrath unleashed? Personally, I plan to be “snatched” (Raptured) away BEFORE the 7-year Tribulation begins! Remember what Jesus also told His disciples on the Mount of Olives:
“Verily, I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”
Matthew 24:34
Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and ask Him for forgiveness of your sins. Do this and you will miss the absolute horror of God’s Wrath.
