“But as the days of Noah were, SO SHALL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE (capitals mine). For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; SO SHALL ALSO THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE (capitals mine).”

Matthew 24:37-39

As yet another Biblical prophecy fulfillment we await, Jesus told His disciples on the Mount of Olives that sometime in the future He would return when the world was the same as it was in the days of Noah. Even though Noah and his three sons took over a hundred years to build the ark in the middle of the desert, people mocked them for their efforts. Noah did not just build the ark, but he warned them of what was coming. The people in that day “were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage”, meaning they continued their lives as always disbelieving the warning given.

But more than eating and drinking and getting married, the people of the earth were consumed with sin! The world was consumed with sin and evil thoughts continuously. It was so great that God had had enough! He was sorry He had ever created mankind and decided to start all over. Fortunately, He found favor in Noah and his 3 sons and their wives and created a way to repopulate a fallen world.

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from both the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them:”

Genesis 6:5-7

Now I need you to take Jesus’s saying in the first verse above equating His Second Coming to what the world was like “in the days of Noah” and compare it to the world in existence today. Fortunately, in 2 Timothy we are told EXACTLY what the world would be like. Yes, today we have many Christians in the world that abhor this type of behavior, but I believe most Christians reading this text today would agree the world is definitely moving towards what Jesus prophesied the world would look like when He returns.

“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

2 Timothy 3:2-7

Now let me be clear, as a staunch pre-tribulationist, I believe His words in Revelation 3:10, “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I ALSO WILL KEEP THEE FROM THE HOUR OF TEMPTATION (Tribulation), which shall come upon ALL THE WORLD (capitals mine), to try them that dwell upon the earth.” Why do I feel strongly that this refers to the true Believers being raptured PRIOR to God’s Wrath being unleashed during the 7 years of Tribulation? Because He said He will try (affect) ALL and yet in Revelation 3:10 He said he would keep His Believers “from” the Tribulation, not “through” the Tribulation! And, if you read the Scripture below, most people are not aware God put Noah and his family into the ark and sealed it, 7 days before it even started to rain! Could 7 days sealed in the ark be equal to 7 years before Christ Returns at the end of the Tribulation?

“There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and female, as God had commanded Noah. And it came to pass AFTER SEVEN DAYS (capitals mine), that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.”

Genesis 7:9-10

As I have said many times, God gave us His Holy Word, the Bible, not to scare us but to make us aware of His Plan for us and for the world for eternity. To know we need not go through the 7 year Tribulation with all the death and turmoil, and yes, to spend eternity in Hell, if we only accept His gift of pardon with the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, we will not go through the Tribulation and will spend eternity instead with Him in Heaven, a place with beauty and glory we cannot even imagine. Now that is comforting!
