Fifty years ago this month, in June 1976, I had an experience that forever changed my life!
I was out to dinner with a friend and somehow, we got talking about Bible prophecy. To be clear, a number of years before this as a college freshman at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting in my college dorm, I personally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. As soon as that happened, I borrowed a friend’s car, drove home and told my mother about my decision. So, I was a Christian and began reading the Bible, but I had never studied prophecy.
That night after the dinner with my friend, I dropped them off at their house and they gave me a copy of Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth. I got home, got into bed around 10:30pm, and began reading it. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN and read it in its entirety that night! The fact that Israel had to first be reborn as a nation (May 14, 1948) for the Last Days to begin convinced me we are now living in those prophesied times.
“So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I (Jesus Christ) say unto you, THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS, TILL ALL THESE THINGS BE FULFILLED (capitals mine).”
Matthew 24:33-34
Fifty years later having read and collected hundreds and hundreds of books on prophecy; currently following 40+ Bible prophecy social media sites on Facebook and LinkedIn; having attended a number of prophecy conferences; and still watching a number of TV prophecy programs along with daily news feeds on what is going on in the world today, I am convinced more than ever, we ARE now living in the Last Days!
In a few months, in January 2027, I will also have been Blessed to celebrate 10 years of writing about Biblical prophetic topics in my blog ComfortOneAnother. Through the Holy Spirit my 500+ articles have now reached hundreds of thousands of people living in most of the countries the UN recognizes (193). With all that said, I humbly submit none of this would have happened without the DIVINE guidance of the Holy Spirit. Obviously, I have no idea if a single person has had their beliefs swayed by anything I have said or done. But like reading The Late Great Planet Earth, my curiosity led me to want to know more about what the Bible says. This in turn strengthened my belief that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, did come to earth to take away my sins so that I will be able to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. I am a much stronger Believer in Jesus today than when I began my journey 50 years ago. That has enticed me to want to help spread His Word, not my words!
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
1 Peter 3:15-16
Each and every one of us who believe in Jesus needs to be telling our friends and family members NOW about what the Bible has said will happen in these Last Days. God did not tell us about His wrath that is to come to scare us. He loves each and every one of us and doesn’t want any to refuse His Gift that Jesus Christ paid for with His death on the cross. He wants us to be looking at what He said thousands of years ago that are happening now. These prophecies coming true during our lifetime validate everything in the Bible! Personally, I look forward to the day I hear the following:
“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter into the joy of the lord.”
Matthew 25:23
