Back in January 2017, I posted an article entitled “The 9th Av – History or Prophecy? Of my 30+ year-to-date posts, this is by far the most often read! I wrote this because I had never heard of the significance of this particular historical date on the Jewish calendar and felt its importance and possible Biblical prophetic connection required an explanation. Not to repeat myself from that post, this date is considered a day of mourning by the Jewish people as it was on this EXACT day so many terrible things have happened to them in their history, from the total destruction of BOTH Holy Temples (in one day over 656 years apart!); to being kicked out of both England and Spain (200+ years apart); to the approval by Hitler to Heinrich Himmler to eradicate the Jews via the Final Solution during WWII; to many, many more terrible events.
Since the Jewish calendar does not match the Gregorian calendar (which we and most of the world uses today), the 9th of Av varies every year on which date it occurs. While we are in the year 2017 on the Gregorian calendar, we are in the year 5777 on the Jewish calendar. This year, the 9th of Av begins at sundown (I assume in Jerusalem) on Monday July 31st and ends at sundown on Tuesday, August 1st. Unlike our days which start at midnight and ends at midnight 24 hours later, their day goes from sundown to sundown.
Now, PLEASE understand I AM NOT saying anything bad will happen to Israel and the Jews on this exact date. I ask that you pray with me for their safety and continued blessings from God. With all the horrible anti-Israel things going on around the world by The United Nations, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Syria, (and yes, even the U.S. at times), etc. it is only a matter of time until Israel is affected as prophesied in the Bible. ONLY God knows His plan for them but I do believe He gives us warning signs so that we will not be caught by surprise.
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
2 Peter 1:20-21
Please pray for the Jews and Israel!
