PEW Research – Religion & 2024 Election

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

1 Corinthians 15:33

In just a few days the people of America will finalize their votes for the next President of the United States; the next Senate; and, the next House of Representatives. Also on the statewide ballots are many other issues such as abortion which will affect local laws. Unfortunately during the past few months there has been a plethora of divisiveness, hate speech, biased reporting being used to hopefully sway the election in favor of either Republicans or Democrats.

A few moths ago I ran across the very reputable PEW Research poll below which, in essence, divides American voters based upon their race and religious beliefs. When this poll was taken in April of 2024 President Joe Biden was still the presumptive Democratic nominee and former President Donald Trump was the expected nominee of the Republican party. At that time, it was basically an evenly split poll with Biden getting 48% of the votes and Trump getting 49%. Since VP Harris became the nominee, most polls remain basically the same with a very close election still expected.

What absolutely surprised me was what comprises each party by race and religious beliefs. History has shown the majority of Black (and Hispanic) voters support Democrats while white voters overwhelmingly support Republicans. This is not a surprise based on historical trends. But…

Look at the results of Christians versus atheist/agnostic and how they vote. 60% of Protestants and 55% of Catholics favor Republicans and 87% of atheists and 82% of agnostics favor Democrats. That is stunning! When you add to that statistics which came out recently that 40 million Christians DO NOT even vote tells me IF they voted, the change in the election would be enormous.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

Colossians 2:8-10

While I have written a number of times about how Christians should vote (Who did Jesus say we should vote for?, ) based on what the Law of the Bible says, I am not endorsing either Republicans or Democrats. What I am saying is that all of us should vote as if God is in the voting booth with us questioning us whether we are following His Law or the law of unbelievers.

I implore all reading this who can legally vote on November 5th (or before) to vote as God would want you to vote. If we do so, perhaps He will then heal our nation of the problems we have been experiencing for many years.

May God Bless you!

Most White Christian voters would vote for Trump if the election were held today; most religious ‘nones’ and Black Protestants would back Biden
