What is Aliyah and what is its importance in Biblical End Times?

“Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, and they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: And I SCATTERED (capitals mine) them among the heathen and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.”

Ezekiel 36:17-19

Have you ever heard of Aliyah? Out of deference to my dear, Southern friends, Aliyah is NOT the plural of “y’all” (as in “all y’all“). Rather, Aliyah refers to the long-desired return of those Jews dispersed to the four corners of the earth BACK to their God Promised land of Israel. This has been a desire of most Jews for the past 2,000 years, i.e., the return to the Promised Land God gave them through His Abrahamic Covenant. This has been such a part of their religion that in their three-time daily prayers, they seek from God their ability to return to their home of Israel. Traditionally, for many, many years on Yom Kippur they always pray “Next year in Jerusalem “. If you recall, God put Abraham, the father of the Jews in the Land and told him it would be their land forever! Numerous times however, throughout history the Jews have been dispersed/taken captive and taken out of their land due to their sins and rebellion against God. But God’s Word and love is absolute and will never change. The land of Israel belongs to the Jews forever!

“When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them anymore there.”

Ezekiel 39:27

Why is Aliyah important today and what relevance does it have to Biblical prophecy regarding the Last Days? Remarkably, as God said above “…I have gathered them unto their own land (Israel) and have left NONE (capitals mine) of them anymore there (in” their enemies lands”). While I had never heard of Aliyah until recently, it seems to be more frequently referred to.  Here we have from God Himself the Promise that He will leave NO Jews behind but will bring them ALL back to Israel.

“And after many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations; and they shall dwell safely all of them.”

Ezekiel 38:8

The last dispersion of the Jews occurred in 70 A.D. when the Romans defeated the Jews, destroyed their Holy Temple in one day (check out the significance of this on my post at The 9th of Av – History or Prophecy) and dispersed them unto all the countries of the world. This was punishment for their sinful nature and rejection of Jesus Christ as their Messiah. But God is always faithful to His Promise and He said He would bring them back to Israel and they would be fruitful (prosperous) and increase (grow). And He did!

“And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.”

Jeremiah 23:3-4

I have mentioned a number of times my interest in Biblical prophecy began in 1976 upon reading Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth which detailed how end times prophecy biblically could not really begin UNTIL after a number of Jews had returned to Israel and declared their national independence. This was a concept which most people previously thought impossible, but it actually happened almost 75 years ago on May 14, 1948. After declaring their independence WITH THE APPROVAL of the United Nations and the immediate support of the United States, they were viciously attacked by many countries whose populations were over 100 times larger. And, through the Grace of God, they prevailed! Since that time Israel has become a democratic nation in an area still very hostile to them and have grown in stature and major scientific, economic, and technological contributions to the world.

But guess what? While the Jewish population of Israel is estimated to be approximately 7.15 million (2022), the global population of Jews is calculated to be 15.54 million (2022). This means that over half of all Jews today DO NOT yet live in Israel! Rather they have taken refuge in countries like the United States (6-6.8 million); France (500,000); Canada (400,000); and the United Kingdom (300,000). Roughly 83% of all Jews live in these countries while today 98 other countries host the remaining 17%, most of which are anti-Semitic.

So, what does this have to do with Aliyah and Biblical End Times?

  1. We know that God gave the land of Israel to the Jew as their FOREVER home, a Promise that will never be broken.
  2. As punishment for their sinful ways on a number of occasions God has taken them out of the land for varying judgement periods of time ALWAYS to return them according to His Promise.
  3. Against all odds during a period of time (WWII) that saw the Jewish population decimated by one third, they, through the Grace of God, were still able to return to the land of Israel and declare their national independence in 1948, only 3 years after nearly being destroyed by the Nazis, Russians, Arabs, etc.
  4. Through almost 2,000 years of diaspora, they were still able to maintain a separate and distinguishable culture, religion, and language.
  5. Today Israel is a modern country in a hugely backward environment.
  6. The Jews around the world STILL yearn to return (Aliyah) to Israel through their daily prayers.
  7. Furthermore, we are also told that in the midst of the coming 7-year Tribulation period (for more check out my post God’s 490-year binding contract that’s almost over!), the Jews are told:

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation (at the midpoint of 7-year Tribulation), spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (rebuilt Holy Temple): (whoso readeth, let him understand). Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:”

Matthew 24:15-16

In other words, something soon will encourage the Jews to migrate back to their God Promised land of Israel. What could that be? Let me give you a distinct possibility of what MIGHT happen. If the vast majority of the world’s Jews live today in Israel friendly nations, what would cause them to feel comfortable enough leaving their current residences and fulfilling the prophecies given by God? Rising anti-Semitism in those countries (including the USA) where younger citizens tend to favor the “Palestinians” over the Jews.  A “peace agreement” supported by Israel, the Arabs and the Jewish friendly nations of the world AND confirmed by the then revealed anti-christ would definitely entice many more to return! When such an agreement is reached, not only accepting the right of the Jews peacefully to go to the land of Israel BUT also allowing them the ability to rebuild their 3rd Holy Temple ON the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, their 2,000-year-old prayers will finally be answered!

There is much effort and speculation today that such a “peace agreement” is finally near that would allow this to happen! The Jews will finally be recognized as having the rights to Israel; the Palestinians will finally get their own state in what is now referred to as the West Bank (also known in the Bible as Judea); and they will be allowed to rebuild their Holy Temple on the Temple Mount (although, they will not be allowed to touch or destroy the existing Muslim sites on the Mount). Jerusalem’s final “ownership” by the Jews will by proclamation of the initial “peace agreement” be put off being re-evaluated 7 years later and during that time will be under the auspices of the United Nations! At this time, I believe, the Jews will finally feel secure enough to return to the land God Promised them! Throughout Israel today there is a concentrated movement to get ALL Jews from around the world to finally come back to their God Promised Land. What is that called? Aliyah!!!

I constantly am reminded of the accuracy and fulfillment of God’s Promises and Prophecies I see happening today and it only serves to continue to strengthen my belief in the soon Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Nothing today is more comforting to me as I witness those things foretold in the Bible and happening today than the fulfillment of God’s Promises. I took to writing this blog to never scare anyone with what is coming but rather to educate those who are not aware of the many facets of Biblical prophecy so they also would be comforted in knowing beforehand what is God’s Plan and timeline. I sincerely hope you are also comforted in this knowledge and continue to “…therefore comfort one another with these words.” You can do this by subscribing to my blog to receive emails directly from me on all new posts. Please help me do this by Liking and/or Sharing these on Facebook and/or LinkedIn.

Thank you for your continuing interest in those things God has Promised to happen in these Last Days. May God Bless You!
