“Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE THERE (capitals mine); neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel: But I HAVE CHOSEN JERUSALEM (capitals mine), that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.”
2 Chronicles 6:5-6
Seventy years after the UN voted to give the land now known as Israel to the Jewish people; 50 years after being viciously attacked by many of their Arab neighbors; and, then within a mere 6 days taking full control of the city of Jerusalem, President Trump announced today he will finally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will move the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv. This makes the U.S. the first country in the world to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. If you recall, it was President Truman in 1948 who was the first world leader who called David Ben Gurion, the Prime Minister of Israel, within hours of their proclamation of independence announcing the U.S. recognized the right of the Jewish people to have their own independent country. Interestingly, President Clinton, Bush AND Obama ALL ran their presidential campaigns vowing to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem if elected. In 1995 with a Senate vote of 93-5 in support of moving the embassy to Jerusalem, a resolution was passed making the move law. I bet you didn’t know that in 2017 the Senate AGAIN voted to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital by a vote of 90-0!!! Even in today’s political climate! However, since that time every President have signed 6 month waivers putting the move off for another 6 months citing potential threats and unrest. Even President Trump signed the waiver back in June but he is now fulfilling Biblical prophecy by acknowledging that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish nation of Israel.
Will this move cause issues and potential conflict? Possibly! But, the issues and conflicts are already there with the failure of most Arab countries failing to even recognize the nation of Israel’s basic right to exist. Take note. Jerusalem HAS NEVER been the capital for any nation or group of people except for the Jews. Ever!!! God Himself gave the land of Israel to the Jews and said Jerusalem would be His capital under His name. Not one of us can change that declaration of God:
“And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.”
Could this be the start of The War of Psalm 83 or The War of Gog and Magog? Will Turkey, who has been VERY vocally against this move, be the main culprit in fighting this move? Check out my recent post Is Turkey the REAL threat today to Israel? The bottom line is that the Bible is filled with prophecies regarding Israel in the last days and how the entire world will be against them. Personally, this is not a political move but rather is fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, perhaps the most significant one I have seen in decades leading to God’s ultimate plan of redemption for all. I take solace in the fact that God said:
“I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
What the U.S. is doing is both a blessing to Israel for which, I believe, we will also be blessed and may very well be the precursor of soon coming fulfillment of other Biblical prophecies regarding the Last Days. This should NOT cause any fear amongst us because we simply cannot control God’s plan for us but rather it should cause us all to be in awe of the accuracy and absolute fulfillment of God’s Holy Word. Remember, he has told His believers beforehand so we will be watching for everything He said was coming.Take comfort in knowing these things and PLEASE “…therefore, comfort one another with these words.” He is Coming soon!!!
May God Bless you!!!
